"Rave Tapes"- The Denim Collection

Rave Tapes is my graduation project realized during the last semester of my Bachelor at Politecnico di Milano.

The collection is first inspired to the German film/book “Wir kinder vom Bahnof Zoo” the story of Christiane F. the youngest heroin addicted in the early 70’. The collection is inspired to the city of Berlin and especially to its grey big building as Gropiusstadt the home of Christiane as well as the Berlin underground. I was inspired by the atmosphere of the places and especially by its textures. Christiane F. was also a style inspiration for my collection, I choose to have some general reference to her style as her straight silhouette, the bomber jackets, little tops and the way she shows her skin. In the collection I wanted to put some details that would recall some of the most memorable scene of the movie. So I ended up adding off white jersey tops under some denim styles. I bleached the denim to create a textures inspired to scraped walls and ruined surfaces, while other styles has laser cut details inspired to the network of the Berlin underground. A secondary character that leads the story of Christiane is Detlef, her boyfriend, I wanted to recall this figure in my collection adding some menswear outfits as well as some oversized pieces.
